Puerto Rico, Travel Series

Long overdue, I'm sure you all would agree. In the months leading up to my trip to Puerto Rico, life was extremely busy. So, I did my best to research the culture, but I only had so much time to devote to reading up on the project. Those of you who know me, know that I'm a big planner, especially when it comes to my work. So, in a sense, I felt I was going into the trip a bit unprepared. Little did I know that aside from packing wisely, there wasn't much else I could do to prepare for such an adventure!!

For a month's time, I was fully immersed in not only Puerto Rican culture, but deaf culture as well. Both were new experiences, unlike anything I had ever encountered before. From fried food and full figures, to vibrant colors and violent weather, Puerto Rico cast a spell on me. It wasn't until a month or two after the trip, that I was able to fully process the experience. Upon that realization, I was able to take the thousands of images I captured and place them into three, fully refined and edited portfolios.

This first collection is comprised mostly of images taken on a two-day trek around the island (about a nine hour drive). My sidekick, Nicole, and I made it a road trip to remember. We played pool in a bar in Ponce (turned heads, for sure), visited the best beaches, met as many interesting characters as possible, stopped at nearly every bakery or panadaria on the island, and all while being chased around the island by a fierce storm!

Below are just a few of the images from the travel series. To view the entire body of work click (here). Also, the next two portfolios should be up within the next two weeks!
