Roll #63: Richard Swan

A while back, I set forth on a mission to develop every last roll of film that has accumulated over the last seven years of travel, test shoots, and odd little adventures.  To see the previous rolls of little treasures, click here.

Here are two outtakes from a shoot I did in 2009 in Azusa, California (LA-outskirts), of British musician Richard Swan

TBT to Athens Central Market

While staying with friends in Greece, I asked our host if she knew of any markets in Athens.  The look on her face was priceless as she explained where I could find the two, rancid-smelling, square blocks in the center of the city that she has never dared nor desired to set foot into: Athens Central Meat Market.

These dark, dingy little "worlds-within-worlds" are found along paths less traveled; they fascinate me.

Road Trip: Northern California, Part II

While the majority of this trip was spent in the cabin planning and preparing for the future, the evening fog managed to coax me out of hiding for a couple hours of exploring.

Road Trip: Northern California, Part I

Last Monday, on a whim, a friend and I decided to escape the heat and drive up to the tiny coastal town of Mendocino, located three hours north of San Francisco.  We booked a cabin (via Airbnb) a couple miles north of town, neatly nestled in the redwood forest.

Our simple plan of action: enjoy the adventure, technology and itinerary-free.

And that we did.  As the days passed, the trip shifted from a lively adventure to a restful retreat.  I spent countless hours curled up with a cup of French press, pondering and plotting the course for the next year. All the while, I was taking in the tunes from my copilot who passed the time recording and reworking her music.
