City Lights Preview

Yea, I'll admit it. For many months I was convinced that Los Angeles just wasn't the right place for me. It's a big city, and I'm a small town girl at heart. L.A. is smelly and crowded. Streets are always clogged, and everybody thinks they're "somebody." Corruption is on nearly every corner. I live in a land where ambition is a drug, and everyone puts their own agenda first. Materialistic mayhem. What's hot and what's not? "She was in this ad," and "he shot that spread." Fur is in, leather is out. Pink is the new black and black the new blue. I can't ever seem to keep up!

The "City Lights" series came to fruition at the perfect time in my life. Wrapping up my final months here in the City of Angels, I was convinced it'd be easy to leave at the end of May and never look back. I've been in the city for eleven months working in the industry, I haven't really "taken" to L.A. Lack of desire and an adventurous spirit have kept me to what's comfortable, and that is the confines of my tidy, somewhat friendly, Miracle Mile neighborhood. However, shooting this project forced me out the door and into the trenches. From chandelier shopping in Beverly Hills at 2A.M. to watching neon motel lights glowing in the ghetto, the night life of this city has cast a spell on me....

So, countless late nights, the many gallons of gas, and little thrills along the way are inconsequential compared to the images that have been captured over the past month. Special thanks goes to a few individuals that have stood by my side throughout the night; I couldn't have done it without you guys!

Quite honestly, I'm not sure that this series will ever, truly be complete. However, I am confident in announcing its first showing tomorrow, following the Benefit Concert for Puerto Rico.

**Please note that all proceeds from this show will go toward the Puerto Rico Project.
